The Neuse RIVERKEEPER®
Foundation (NRF) was created in 1980 by a small group of individuals like you who were worried about the health of the river they loved. They created a passionate, volunteer-driven organization focused on educating the community about threats to water quality. Thirty years later, the NRF has matured into an active advocate for the river, protecting all 250 miles of the Neuse and 6,000 square miles of the Neuse River basin.
The NRF is proof of the good that communities can achieve and with your financial support the NRF will celebrate another 30 years, preserving the Neuse for future generations!
Now in our fourth decade, the NRF has worked with our members and volunteers to pass pollution regulations for the Neuse, organized a state-wide campaign to protect our waters from polluted runoff and has coordinated the largest single-river cleanup in the state. These accomplishments are just part of what the NRF does for our beautiful river and the people who rely upon it.

With your help, the Riverkeepers and the NRF can:
Monitor the river for polluted runoff,
Work toward better laws to protect clean water,
Address and remedy threats to the river,
Organize hundreds of volunteers to protect the Neuse and its tributaries
Your contribution to the NRF is an investment to ensure a brighter future for the Neuse. With the dedication and support of our donors, members and volunteers we can work together to keep this treasure of eastern North Carolina protected for future generations.
